Bio
Monica Lyrae is a singer-songwriter from Monterrey, Mexico. Her passion for deciphering dreams, confronting inner demons, and understanding the universe we live in led her to communicate these surreal scenarios to the outside world through her lyrics and music. Her sound is characterized by a blend of different musical genres, using her voice, a string quartet, and sound design as its foundation. Every decision in her composition and production aims to elevate the narrative of her stories within a free and unique sonic world.
After releasing one EP and two singles, in 2024 she released her first concept album Spirals, which was recorded in 2019 in Psicofonia Studio with producer and audio engineer Charles A. Leal. Through eight songs, Monica shows her way of navigating the spirals of her own mind. The album is full of contrasts combining chamber rock with strings and industrial elements.
Monica transformed Spirals into a live show with her band. The current band members are violinists Arely López and Sebastián García, violist Celina Guajardo, cellist Paloma Valencia, and Charles A. Leal playing drums and sequences.
In 2025 Monica received the government grant PECDA Nuevo Leon 2025, which allowed her to develop her new EP Phantasos. It will be released the 13th of November of 2026.
